Mr. Martin’s expertise lies in his in-depth knowledge of plastics and machine engineering. Mr. Martin was instrumental in developing films for Advanced Scientifics’ Single Use Systems that withstood the critical testing criteria of the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology industries. He directed the engineering development and building of Advanced Scientifics’ machine automation. In addition, Mr. Martin was at the forefront of developing new products and processes that led to many patents underwritten by Advanced Scientifics.

In February 2015, Mr. Carl Martin (CEO) and Mr. Smeltz orchestrated the sale of Advanced Scientifics to Thermo Fisher Scientifics at 27 times EBITDA. At the time of the sale, Advanced Scientifics had manufacturing locations in Millersburg, PA and Matamoros, MX and had sales offices in Europe, South America, and Asia. Both of Advanced Scientifics’ manufacturing facilities utilized Class 10,000 Clean Rooms for their manufacturing activities and both facilities were registered with the FDA and were ISO 13485:2003 certified.

Mr. Smeltz earned Bachelor’s Degrees in Biology and Accounting and holds an MBA. As an undergraduate, Mr. Smeltz was recognized as the Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year and was a finalist for the Senior of the Year Award.

In 1996, he founded Millenia Healthcare, providing advanced infusion services to patients in their homes.
